We are very sad to hear about your accident. We are aware of a damaged vehicle can be a bit overwhelming or injury, or treat in some cases a serious setback. And if you’re not familiar with the claims process, things can be confusing. This guide will help you understand the basics of how the request, and explain how the road as quickly as possible.

You File a Claim – When you report an accident to us (you can do this online or by calling our toll-free claim number, 1-888-244-6163), we initiate an investigation and explain the available coverages to you. Once a claim has been reported, it is assigned to a Claims Representative who will complete the claims process.

Rental Car (if applicable) – We understand your need for transportation while your car gets repaired. If you have rental coverage available on your policy, your Claim Representative will explain how long you may rent a vehicle and will assist you with making arrangements through a rental car company which may direct bill us.

We Inspect Your Vehicle and Write an Estimate to Cover Repairs – With our Circle of Dependability (COD) program, you can bring your vehicle in when it is convenient to start the repair process. In situations where your car is not drivable, it will be towed in at no additional charge.

If you have minor damages, you may opt to visit one of our convenient Drive-In locations where you will leave with an estimate that can be used at the shop of your choice. If you choose another repair shop or haven’t decided about repairs, we will assign a Field Appraiser to go to where your vehicle is located and write a repair estimate.

If the damage to your vehicle is so severe that it cannot be fixed, it will be considered a total loss. In that case, we will obtain your permission to move the vehicle to a secure storage location and get the total loss settlement process underway.

The Liability Investigation – If another vehicle was involved in the loss, you will hear from your Claims Representative within 24 hours. To properly address liability, or fault, your Representative will need to investigate the facts of the accident, for example taking statements from the involved parties or obtaining police reports.
